An Interesting Week

Actually there has been a lot going on for me this week. It's been crazy really. Between school and Gabbi getting a fever the very first day of class, then other things that I can't really write about here unfortunately.

The hubby was the first to get sick. Gabriella had JUST gotten over her illness for about 2 weeks then bam. Hubby gets hit hard with a sore throat, running nose, and all that good stuff. People were calling in sick to work. It didn't look good. Then Gabbi caught it. We are on day four of a fever AGAIN. It seems not as bad today and I am thinking it might be on it's way out. Her nose is totally stuffed while at the same time running like mad. I feel sorry for her but don't feel it's too unusual. At this age the immune systems are catching these things for the first time and each illness strengthens it. It's all a part of the process. She seems happy and playful regardless of the terrible cold she has.

Last night it was a good friend's birthday and he and some other friends came over to celebrate. It wasn't a wild crazy get together but just some friends having a nice visit. I enjoyed it. It's been a while since I have seen everyone really. I needed it too after this week. I am back to the books now. Gabbi is probably due for a nap soon. I am hoping this illness will make it's way OUT. I started to feel a sore throat 2 days ago. It progressively felt worse, but nothing major. I figured it was my turn. Right now? I have totally lost my voice. Yep. Laryngitis. I cannot talk without whispering. My neck feels sore. Other than that though my nose is not stuffed and I feel ok. So I hope beyond HOPE this does NOT get worse. I cannot miss class. I have a math test Monday!

Passing Around the Colds

So far, I am still healthy. The hubby however is an entirely different story. He has a terrible sore throat, lots of sniffling, the whole works. I definitely don't like seeing him suffer and he is working as well. The biggest problem for me at the moment is that Gabbi caught it. She had just gotten totally over her other sickness and the sniffles started. Then she was seriously clogged up and a little cough. She seemed bothered last night so I assumed she might have a sore throat too. Her dad does, and it's his most bothersome symptom. I hate when they cannot tell us what is wrong. I am just going on what her dad is feeling and assuming she is feeling it too. This morning she woke up with a slight fever and lots of green drainage. I hope there is no infections going on. They did have us stop that Zithromax the last time. I am not sure what to think but hopefully it's not flu or anything. That would just make my year. I gave her a little Motrin and the fever vanished which I feel is a great sign. She's playing and looking fine. So I can only hope it's not the beginning of an entirely new week of her feeling horrible. It's horrible when I have tons of school work to do!

Top all that off with Angel's lip problem. It's still swollen so huge. It looks all white inside now where the cut is. She and my daughter Mikayla got bitten by some killer mosquitoes or something. Mikayla has a bit on her cheek and it's swollen and firm in the middle. Her cheek is fat. Now Angelina has a bite between her eyebrows and it's done the same thing. It's swollen and firm. It's caused her eyes to look further apart! It's weird. She has this swollen lip and now big swollen bite between her eyes. I told her it might be best to stay inside today. haha As my hubby and I always say, it's always SOMETHING.

Kids are Resilient

Angelina is doing just fine and the doctor said no stitches. He said because the wound is inside of her mouth it's best to let it heal on it's own. If it were on the outside they would have stitched it. She finally stop gushing blood. Her tooth is still hanging there with some blue gums above it. It looks bruised. I am pretty sure it was a baby tooth. I am supposed to take her to the dentist this week to be sure of it. It's a small tooth so I am 99% sure. Here are a couple of pics of the damaged little girl. I did some rough housing as a kid myself. I never did manage to break any bones surprisingly. My sister had to get stitches in her top lip once though. My dad had this ramp that he used to get animals to walk up into his truck. (We had a small farm) We loved climbing up on that ramp when they weren't using it. Of course we were repeatedly told not to do that. We would run up it and jump off the end. One day my sister jumped off the end and said ouch. She had hurt her lip. We all started walking away not thinking too much of it. My sister was crying and holding her mouth. My aunt and mother came out, angry at us for jumping off the ramp. Then my aunt noticed my sister's lip. It was split totally in half. She had jumped off the ramp. The problem being there was a nail jutting outside that we hadn't noticed, but her lip sure did. Long story short she need her lip stitched up. She's all grown up now. haha This sure reminded me of that day. Oh and here are those pictures of my little girl with her very swollen lip. I told her she kind of looks like a duck today. haha

This is a picture of the actual wound. I linked it for those who would rather not see the cut. It's not looking as bad today but still not pretty! So click here if you want to see it.

Here is the swollen lip. Click to view a larger image.

A Busted Lip

Not me, my daughter Angel. My precious little 7 year old is on the way to the ER with dad. She and her sister Mikayla were rough housing with some pillows. Yes. Pillows. They decided to have a pillow fight. They were in the basement goofing around and started tugging on the pillows trying to get them from each other. Somehow Angel's face met Mikayla's head and now Angel's top lip slightly resembles hamburger. Her teeth went deep inside her top lip and one of her baby teeth is just dangling. Oh my poor baby. I am here with the 3 other girls while dad takes her in. I am guessing quite possibly a stitch or two. I'll update when I know more.

A Day at the Zoo

I had a good day at the zoo at a new African Exhibit. The zoo normally is a pretty fast walk through but with this new exhibit it takes more than an hour. It's so nice. I had a really good time with my family. :) Tomorrow it's all about the school work! I noticed something in this pic. My 12 year old is almost taller than me! She's about my size. I am wearing her shirt in this pic and she is wearing a t-shirt my sister Donna gave me while I was sick. I always thought it was funny. :) If you can read it, you'll see what I mean.
